Kingshold City Tour

Here is the capital city of Edland, Kingshold.

Why don’t you let me show you around?

You can see Mount Tiston in the center of the picture. Let us start there and then walk out of Kingshold. The palace is built against Mount Tiston and the city fans out in concentric circles.

The space between the palace and the furthest wall (known as the Inner Wall) is the Upper Circle. This is primarily the home to the rich and influential of the city.

The next wall after the Inner Wall, is the Outer Wall. It’s no longer the final defense around the city because of how the population has grown over the centuries, but the name has stuck. The space in between the Inner and Outer walls is known as The Middle, though it is made up of many different districts, each with their own character. On the right of the page you can see the docks and harborside. Kingshold has grown rich (at least for some) on the trade that flows through its port. Much of the story is centered here in The Middle, and it is where you will find the Royal Oak, the inn that becomes a locus for many of the characters.

The most outwardly wall is know as Crandall’s Curtain. Named for King Crandall who was generous enough to bring the settlements that had developed outside the city walls into Kingshold’s warm embrace. However, building a wall of that length is expensive. And so the good citizens refer to it as a curtain, because you can see through the gaps and it may only offer as much protection. Though the area between the Outer Wall and Crandall’s Curtain is now part of the city, it is still the largest and poorest part of Kingshold, made up of many different districts, including The Narrows.

Why don’t you come and stay for a while, get to know the place a little better? Of course, there is an election going on right now. So the place is a little crazy, but I’m sure it will calm down soon enough…

(p.s. I’ll post the city map and the maps of the wider region in a few days. Check back to see them.)
